If Any Of You Lack Wisdom
SAB or youth choir
Words and music by Craig Petrie
I wrote this for a Joseph Smith Commemoration Fireside held in our ward in March, 2005. Thanks to the youth of the Edgemont 1st Ward in Provo, UT for doing a tremendous job performing this song. The text is taken from James 1:5-6 and Ephesians 4:5-6. The music is original, with "Praise to the Man" evident in the piano throughout the song.
Verse 1: women
There is but one Lord, there is but one faith,
There is but one baptism, (and) one God.
If there’s but one faith, where can I find this faith?
Where can I go? How can I know, how can I know?
Verse 2: men
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,
That giveth to all men lib’rally.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,
Who upbraideth not, and it shall be given, given him.
Chorus: Combine Verses 1 & 2
Verse 3: soprano descant
There is but one Lord, but one faith,
There is but one Lord, and one God.
If there’s but one faith, I’ll find this faith,
I’ll ask of God, and it shall be given, I know!
Bridge: men
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.
Let him ask in faith, let him ask of God,
Let him ask in faith then he will know!
Bridge: women
I will ask in faith, then I will know,
Then I will know!
Chorus 2: Combine Verses 1, 2, & 3
New women’s lyrics:
If there’s but one faith, then I will find this faith,
I’ll ask of God, and I will know, yes I will know!
